Social Construct is a bold entertainment production company dedicated to curating a range of socially relevant and impactful projects, from award-winning films to episodic television. With a focus on IP development, packaging and sales, the company’s projects have been acquired by top studios and distributors worldwide, including Universal, Lionsgate, STX, Netflix, HBO, Showtime, Amazon Studios, AMC, IFC, etc, as well as boasting laurels from the Golden Globes, International Emmy Awards, Sundance, SXSW, Berlinale, Hotdocs, IDFA, and more.

Founder & Producer
Zak Kilberg
Producer Zak Kilberg launched Social Construct, LLC in 2010, in order to seek out and produce the most artistically original, yet commercially viable projects in the world. Over the past several years, Kilberg has been primarily focused on IP acquisition and creative development services for a variety of new projects and ventures.
Projects from Social Construct and their various joint ventures include: Golden Globe winner, The Mauritanian, based on the New York Times Bestseller Guantanamo Diary, starring Jodie Foster, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tahar Rahim, and Shailene Woodley, from Oscar-winning director Kevin MacDonald; the screen adaptation of Penguin Random House memoir The Other Dr. Gilmer with producer Jonathan King / Concordia Studio; the New York Times’ “Best Book of the Year” Say Her Name adaptation, with producer William Horberg & Oscar-winning company Fabula Films; International Emmy-winning documentary Bellingcat:Truth In A Post-Truth World; and many others. Kilberg is also currently in production on a slate of impact focused documentaries with creative partners that include Fisher Stevens, Marti Noxon, and Rosario Dawson. On the series side, Kilberg is developing a slate of branded TV projects with a variety of producing partners, including Tim Kring (Heroes), Bruce Cohen (Pushing Daisies), and Bad Robot (Westworld).
Kilberg is the founder/CEO of Social Construct, which he runs with his partner Iz Web, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC.

Iz Web
With a background in writing, filmmaking and the arts, Iz Web’s diverse career has included information architecture, multimedia art, theatre & film production, festival & event production, community organization, and performance art. A prolific writer since childhood, Iz Web studied Filmmaking and the Adaptation of Fiction Into Film in college, along with intensive studies in the disciplines of Art, Philosophy, Comparative Religions and Mythology. She directed several short films and worked in various aspects of both production and distribution before pursuing a career as an information architect, multimedia artist, and circus performer. Since then she has written numerous interactive story-based games, short stories, and scripts for both screen & stage. She joined Social Construct in 2013 to lead a collaborative writer’s group, and is now a partner, serving as the Head of Development. As Head of Development for Social Construct, Iz oversees the development of a slate of film and television projects for the company and its joint ventures.

Connect Beyond Festival provides attendees with access and communication by using music, film, and storytelling to create connections. More than just an event, Connect Beyond Festival is a movement to develop a network of people inspired by creative mediums and united in the pursuit of equality and social justice, with a goal of inspiring a sense of community and personal engagement.
Convergent Media
Convergent Media was conceived by Social Construct and prominent entertainment law firm SmithDehn LLP. Our mission is to explore socially relevant and meaningful themes, and to bring engaging, entertaining stories to audiences worldwide, while aspiring to commercial success for independent filmmakers and investors alike. Our films include Buena Vista Social Club: Adios (“New York Times Critic’s Pick”), The Mauritanian (with Jodie Foster, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Tahar Rahim), and the New York Times best book of the year, Say Her Name.
